Who We Are
From Personal Challenge to Community Solution
In 2022, my partner and I bought what we thought was a move-in-ready house in Vermont. We planned a few light renovations before moving in. On day two, we discovered mold and water damage that forced us to renovate over 75% of the building.
Three years later, we’re starting our fourth year living in a construction zone. The house has been a blessing in disguise — it revealed how much time, material, and energy we pour into the wrong structures when better options exist. Had we known what we were getting into, and had the time and resources to consider our options, we would have deconstructed and started fresh.
This experience showed us a bigger problem: communities often lack the information and resources to make smart, sustainable choices about the built environment. This life experience has shaped the mission RMRM.
